We are Bournemouth's premier independent vegan health food store located in Bournemouth town centre. We are open Monday to Saturday from 10am until 6pm and Sunday from 11am until 4pm.
We specialise in high quality organic whole foods as well as stocking organic vitamins and supplements, body care, baby care, household cleaning products, essential oils and much much more! Every Tuesday and Friday we have freshly baked Bakehouse 24 organic sourdough bread available and on Fridays we receive a weekly delivery of organic fruit and veg. In addition to our existing REFILL STATION (where you can fill up on laundry liquid, fabric conditioner, hand wash, toilet cleaner, kitchen sanitiser, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner) we now have an ever expanding ZERO WASTE organic loose food area! This is something we have wanted to do for soooooo long and thanks to a very successful crowdfunding campaign (funded mainly by our lovely customers - THANK YOU!) it is actually happening! The gravity fed dispensers went up in June 2018 and as of Saturday 19th January 2019 we currently offer (PLASTIC FREE) the following organic items - porridge oats, jumbo oats, gluten free oats, puffed rice, brown rice flakes, buckwheat flakes, raw buckwheat, classic muesli, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, sesame seeds, brown linseeds (flaxseed), golden linseeds (flaxseed), alfalfa seeds, broccoli seeds, goji berries, raisins, figs, dates, unsulphured apricots, dried mulberries, mango slices, coconut chips, cane sugar, desiccated coconut, cacao powder, cashews, almonds, walnuts, brazil nuts, peanuts, hazelnuts, white pasta, wholewheat pasta, gluten free pasta, long grain brown rice, short grain brown rice, white basmati rice, white arborio rice, quinoa, cous cous, millet grain, pearl barley, chickpeas, mung beans, aduki beans, red kidney beans, seven bean mix, yellow split peas, red lentils, brown lentils, green lentils, nutritional yeast flakes, sos mix, soya chunks, vital wheat gluten plus some herbs and spices. MORE BEING ADDED EACH WEEK! Simply bring in your own container or use one of our free paper bags.
You will find us at 9 St Michael's Road (map below) which is located in the vibrant Triangle are of Bournemouth, just up from PRIMARK and about a two-minute walk further up the hill on the left from Holland & Barrett. Look out for the betting shops Ladbrokes and Betfred on either corner (yes really!) and you've found St Michael's Road. Make your way up the hill (sorry!) and we are the 4th shop on the left.
We are very lucky at Sunrise Organics that we just happen to be located on one of the only roads left in Bournemouth town centre that still offers FREE PARKING! Yep, I kid you not. For one whole hour you can park right outside Sunrise Organics in St Michael's Road totally for free - happy days! And, if for any reason you don't happen to find a space at the time you wish to visit us, fear not. There is a public car park, albeit a paying one (sigh!) literally a 30 second walk away from us in West Hill Road, namely West Hill Car Park. And if you're wanting to know a little more about the peeps behind Sunrise, here's a bit about us...
So who are we? Well, on the left you'll see Mark Lewis and on the right you'll see me, Liz Josey, (you can't beat a bit of 'Carry On' humour we say!) and on Saturday 1st August 2015 we opened Bournemouth's very first 100% vegan health store. We are both comitted vegans and love nothing more than introducing folks to the health benefits of plant-based living. We can't believe we've celebrated our THIRD birthday aleady! It seems like only yesterday that we were excitedly getting the place ready for opening. So much has happened in that time. So many things have changed! We now have TWO highly valued members of staff, both of whom are also long term vegans. Mark's beautiful daughter Peppa works alongside us 4 days a week and the lovely Lisa works with us 3 days a week. (Go Team Sunrise!)
Even though it has been 3 and a half years since we opened, our 'mission' is still the same and that is to make living and eating 'clean' and cruelty-free as easy and as affordable as possible by keeping our prices down but without any compromise on quality. (People are often surprised and comment how very reasonably priced we are!) We like to support local producers as much as possible and stock a range of locally made products including Mrs B's Kombucha which is made just up the road in Poole. We have (still) got some BIG plans for the future of Sunrise where we hope to make things not only easy and affordable but as environmentally friendly and with as little packaging as possible. However, as anyone who runs their own business will know, all these things take time and are ultimately dependent on cashflow... ! As our aim is to be of serivce to the local commmunity we welcome ideas and feedback on how we can make things better. We are also more than happy to take customer requests for anything we don't currently hold in stock as well as offer a discounted bulk buying service where available. As long as it's vegan and organic (or at the very least natural and non-GMO) then we will do our utmost to oblige. We like to think we're a fun and friendly bunch and pride ourselves on our commitment to personal service, creating a welcoming and relaxed shopping environment for our customers as well as being willing to 'go the extra mile'.
