Stuffed but starving!

One of the biggest and age old misconceptions around food (and mealtimes in general) is that more is better! Who else grew up with the "you MUST clear your plate..." mantra ringing in their ears?! The problem with that is the focus becomes all about how much you've eaten rather than WHAT you've eaten. The (scientific) fact of the matter is, the more nutritionally dense foods you eat (eg fruits, vegetables, leafy greens, nuts, seeds, superfoods), the LESS you need to it! Ever wondered why after finishing some meals (usually of the less than healthy variety but yes, very tasty!) and feeling positively STUFFED, you still want to eat MORE? The simple reason is because your body hasn't received the nutrients it needs at the cellular level and so tells you you are still hungry. Which in fact you are, but most likely not for what you've just eaten! Start to think more of FUELING your body rather than FILLING it! This is also why people are getting bigger and bigger and ultimately becoming obese. They don't know this one very simple, but life changing fact. No one does! Well not until they meet someone who does or do their own research. I mean, it's not like it's taught at school or anything right? And guess what? The food companies don't want you to know this either! Why? Because if you did, you may just stop buying the stuff! You see, it's all about the moolah people! SO, the first step to becoming healthy is to EDUCATE YOURSELF. Do your research. Become EMPOWERED. Because at the end of the day... when the 'ahem' chips (excuse the pun!) are down... your HEALTH really IS in YOUR hands! Be happy. Be healthy! Liz x
